Pokémon: The 10 Strongest Female-Only Species, Ranked

In the Pokémon franchise, some Pocket Monsters have a gender, which sometimes determines factors like slight variations in appearance. While this rarely makes a difference in any other way, there are certain species that can only have one specific gender.

Some female-only species are incredible, able to defeat many opponents with ease. Several of these Pokémon’s pre-evolutions have an even gender ratio, so the process to obtain them in their fully evolved forms can take time, but the result is often worth the effort. Some of the best female-only species are only available in post-game sections, but they are viable at any point in a playthrough.

10 Froslass

When trainers use a Dawn Stone on a female Snorunt, the Pokémon evolves into Froslass, an Ice/Ghost-type. Froslass has an incredible Speed stat that allows it to act before a large portion of its opponents. Both its Attack and Special Attack are decent but not excellent, so in standard circumstances, the Pokémon may not knock enemies out in one hit.

However, Froslass becomes more viable if it has Snow Cloak as its Ability. Snow Cloak reduces the accuracy of moves used against Froslass when it is hailing, and because the Pokémon has access to Hail through leveling up, trainers can utilize this method easily. Hail also allows the powerful attack Blizzard to bypass the accuracy check, giving Froslass an exceptional option that makes it much more offensively capable.

9 Mandibuzz

Mandibuzz’s high HP and defensive stats allow it to take a reasonable amount of damage from both Physical and Special attackers. Its dual typing of Dark/Flying gives it four type weaknesses, but it also gives it two immunities.

Mandibuzz has a decent Speed stat, but neither its Physical nor Special Attack stats are high enough to defeat opponents swiftly. It does, however, have access to some stellar attacks like Dark Pulse, one of the most powerful Dark moves. With its viable bulk, Mandibuzz can chip away at its enemy’s health over time and often take it out before it goes down itself.

8 Miltank

Being a Normal-type has its advantages and disadvantages. Miltank, which already has viable bulk, only has one type weakness: Fighting. On the other hand, Normal is not super-effective against any other type, so Miltank does not gain a Same Type Attack Bonus on any strikes of this sort against enemies.

The Pokémon is more than capable, however, because of its aforementioned bulk, high Speed stat, and solid Attack. Along with this, if Miltank has Scrappy as its Ability, it can hit Ghost-types with Normal and Fighting-type attacks, making it even more reliable.

7 Blissey

Blissey has the highest HP stat of any usable Pokémon in the franchise. Because of its HP’s pairing with its fantastic Special Defense stat, Blissey does exceptionally well against Special attackers. Unfortunately, Blissey’s Defense stat is almost nonexistent, so while its HP is phenomenal, the Pokémon runs into immediate trouble against opponents that use Physical strikes.

If it gets lucky and goes up against a Special attacker, Blissey can wear it down with its reasonable Special Attack stat, and its access to several healing moves helps to keep it in the battle even longer.

6 Nidoqueen

Nidoqueen can be difficult to take down because of its decent defensive stats and HP. Nidoqueen has four type weaknesses and five resistances, plus immunity to Electric-type attacks. Its lack of extreme vulnerabilities also means that it can usually withstand a hit or two before fainting.

Nidoqueen is not incredibly fast, but when it has the chance to strike, it can do a significant chunk of damage with its reasonably high Attack stat. Its Hidden Ability, Sheer Force, boosts the power of attacks with additional effects, removing the additional effect in the process and making some of Nidoqueen’s strikes even stronger. Its well-rounded stat spread helps to make it an intimidating opponent and one of the best dual-type Poison Pokémon.

5 Hatterene

Generation VIII’s Hatterene may not have the most impressive HP in the series, but its better than average Defense and Special Defense help to make up for this a bit. The Pokémon needs this bulk because it almost never out-speeds any of its opponents.

After taking a hit, Hatterene can do extensive damage with its fantastic Special Attack stat. With moves like Dazzling Gleam and Psychic, this Pokémon can often defeat enemies with one strike, making it a valuable asset for a playthrough team.

4 Kangaskhan

Like Miltank, Kangaskhan can have Scrappy as an Ability, making it more reliable against Ghost-types. Kangaskhan’s Speed stat is relatively high, allowing it to act before enemies a decent percentage of the time.

Even if it does not out-speed, though, its HP and defensive stats let it withstand an extensive amount of damage, which is aided further by the fact that, also like Miltank, Kangaskhan only has one type weakness. Offensively, the Pokémon has a solid Attack stat and access to plenty of Physical attacks, making it a force to be reckoned with.

3 Tsareena

As one of the strongest Pokémon from Sun & Moon, Tsareena is an intimidating foe to face for several reasons. One is that the Pokémon has relatively high values in both its Physical and Special Defense stats, making up for its less impressive HP. While it does not always act first, its bulk allows it to survive for a reasonable amount of time.

When its turn to strike arrives, Tsareena can demolish a large number of enemy teams with ease using its high Attack stat. Most of the moves it can access through leveling up are Physical, so Tsareena can utilize this stat to devastating effect.

2 Cresselia

As a Legendary, Cresselia has a high base stat total. These stats are distributed mainly into its HP and defensive stats, making it a wall against both the Physical and Special categories of damage.

Offensively, it is less capable, with only decent Speed and attacking stats that are lacking. Cresselia relies on its bulk, though, which keeps it in the battle long enough to chip away as its foe’s health until it succeeds. Additionally, it gains some offensive benefits from its access to attacks like Psychic and Moonblast, which increase its viability further.

1 Latias

Latias, one of the strongest among the Hoenn Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, succeeds in several capacities. Its highest stat value is in its Special Defense, making it a wall against this category of attacks. While its Defense is not as high, it is enough to help it endure this sort of damage well.

Its six type weaknesses can be frustrating. However, none of these are extreme vulnerabilities, and it also boasts six type resistances. Latias often does not need to use its defensive stats, though, because it has high Speed and Special Attack stats, allowing it to strike quickly and with great force.
