Poppy Playtime: How To Solve The Make-A-Friend Room Puzzle

Chapter 1 of Poppy Playtime introduces players to the Playtime Co. toy factory after the entire staff went missing ten years ago. As an ex-employee of the company, the player receives a letter stating that the rest of the staff never actually left the factory, inviting them to return to find out what happened. Once inside, Playtime Co.’s huggable mascot, Huggy Wuggy, is there to greet them, and things quickly take a turn for the worse.

Players must use Playtime Co.’s GrabPack to solve puzzles and rewire circuits in order to restore power to the factory’s many machines. Once they find the GrabPack in the security room and restore power to the lobby, players can make their way into the innovation wing where Playtime Co.’s world-famous toys are created.

After getting the red GrabPack hand and traveling down the conveyor belt, players will drop into a room with a large sign reading “Make-A-Friend” over three large machines. The door to exit this room is locked, stating that “Nobody leaves without a toy!” There is a platform next to this door that will allow players to scan a toy once they create one using the Make-A-Friend machine, which must first be powered on.

How To Start The Make-A-Friend Machine In Poppy Playtime

To the left of the conveyor belt in Poppy Playtime’s Make-A-Friend room, there is a staircase leading up to the catwalk above. There is a section of catwalk missing, which players can pull out from the other side of the missing section by pulling the handle with the GrabPack. There is a pink VHS tape to the right of this missing section on a ledge, which can be watched on the pink VCR at the top of the stairs.

There is a fuse box directly at the end of the first part of the catwalk, as well as another section that can be pulled out in the middle. By grabbing the fuse box and weaving between the two pillars in the center section, players can power on the second fuse box, which is on the far end of the catwalk. This will activate the Make-A-Friend machine, which now reads “Power On.”

The machine will take a few seconds to start up after the player hits the start button. Once it does, the three levers above the conveyor belt will light up, which the player can activate by pulling them with the GrabPack. This will deposit toy parts onto the belt, which will transport them through the machine as it assembles a toy. After collecting the finished toy from the end of the belt, the player can place it on the toy scanner to unlock the door.
