Kandi Burruss from The Real Housewives of Atlanta is known for much more than her time as a reality star for the past 12 years. Aside from appearing on a reality show, Kandi is known for being a successful singer/songwriter and a businesswoman.

When the fans of RHOA first met Kandi during season two, she was a single mother to her daughter, Riley, 18, and in a relationship with her former fiancé, AJ. After his death, Kandi moved on with her life and was still on the lookout for the man of her dreams. During a cast trip to South Africa, she became close with one of the producers who fans now know as Todd Tucker. Kandi and Todd married in 2014 and have since welcomed two children together, Ace, 5, and Blaze, 1. Aside from a flourishing family and personal life, Kandi has a successful career.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Kandi was born May 17, 1976, making her current age 44, and she stands at 5’2.” Before fame, she grew up in College Park, Ga., with her father Reverend Titus Burruss Jr. and her mother Joyce Jones. Kandi also had an older brother named Patrick, who died in 1991 at the age of 22 in a car crash. Kandi went on to attend high school at Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School just outside of Atlanta. The songwriter got her start in the entertainment business at 15 when she appeared on BET’s Teen Summit. During her time in high school, Kandi also formed her band Xscape with Tamika, LaTocha Scott and Tameka “Tiny Cottle.” Kandi and her bandmates were later signed by Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Recordings label. At the beginning of Kandi’s senior year in 1993, Xscape released their debut album  Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha. The album went to number three on the R&B charts and even had two top ten singles. Aside from having a successful singing career, Kandi did even better when it came to her songwriting skills. She has written several songs for musicians such as her own band Xscape, she wrote TLC’s most popular song “No Scrubs” and Destiny’s Child’s song, “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

Shortly after Xscape disbanded, Kandi joined RHOA for season two. In the beginning, Kandi became close to Kim Zolciak, but later developed a close friendship with Phaedra Parks. After a rough season nine, their friendship ended and Kandi became closer to Kenya Moore. Other than her RHOA costars, Kandi is usually seen filming with her family or her Kandi Koated team. Since joining the show, Kandi is often called one of the more boring cast members for her low energy personality. But when Kandi decides to get in on the fun she knows how to liven up the group.  Kandi later came out with her own sex-toy line, Bedroom Kandi, which made its debut during the beginning seasons of RHOA. With her music career, business ventures, and her RHOA salary of $2.3 million, Kandi has garnered a net worth of $30 million. Most recently, Kandi was featured on The Masked Singer and won as the Night Angel.

Kandi is also very active on Instagram and Twitter where she usually posts about her businesses or RHOA. On Twitter, she even live-tweets the show with hilarious commentary. As for Instagram, Kandi often shares selfies of her in cute ensembles from her retail store, tags, or confessional looks from RHOA.
