Joe Gorga’s recent family moment on social media didn’t fly over too well among fans of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. The reality star was called out after he shared a post giving his teenage daughter unsolicited dating advice. Not only did he make sure to tag his daughter and wife, but he reminded her why she should always date a guy like her father.
Overall, Joe Gorga’s “macho man” demeanor has caused quite a stir in recent seasons, with Melissa Gorga facing judgment from the ladies on RHONJ season 11 due to Joe’s controlling behavior. In past seasons, viewers witnessed the attitude that Joe put out when his wife worked hard to open up her Envy clothing boutique. Most recently, she felt his wrath after he complained about her not being home enough. Through their ups and downs, Joe has always prided himself in being a family man. He’s shed tears when it comes to his love for family and isn’t ashamed at wanting his wife’s undivided attention.
In the past, Joe Gorga has shared his reluctance for his daughter to date boys. However, with Antonia now being 15 years old, things are at a point where Joe can only advise his teenage daughter on the type of guys that he’d like for her to date. This must’ve been his intention when he took to Instagram to post one of his signature photo quotes. “Be the type of man you’d want your daughter to be with,” the post read over a photo of Joe, Melissa, and Antonia. In the caption, he added the 100 emoji and tagged his wife and daughter. Alas, his dating advice to his daughter wasn’t received well.
The fans of RHONJ took to Joe Gorga’s comments section to blast the businessman for coming off as a “chauvinist” as he has on the show. “Now this HAS to be a joke,” one person said. “What a chauvinist! Who keeps talking about humping his wife! Gross,” added someone else. After a screenshot was shared on Reddit, the fans accused Joe of trolling his followers. “I would WEEP if my daughter ever dated a man like Joe Gorga and I don’t even have one yet. Is he trolling us,” they asked.
Others chimed in, claiming that the Bravo star is only playing into his portrayal on the show. “Joe knows the character he’s playing and he knows how the audience is going to receive this. He is 1000% trolling us,” they said. Another commenter agreed, claiming that Joe acts villainous to help his wife maintain a storyline. “I agree. I think he’s agreed to play the villain role to keep Melissa relevant. (She’d never do it),” they claimed. Joe just might be trolling to keep his wife’s job on Real Housewives of New Jersey secured.
