RuPaul’s Drag Race: What Gottmik Has Been Up To Since Season 13

After slaying the runway and the challenges all season long on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Gottmik is ready to keep breaking the cis-tem and keep conquering the world. From the second Gottmik was announced as a contestant on Drag Race, this queen has been making herstory. As a trans male contestant who works as a drag artist, Gottmik’s performance on the show was truly historic for the fans to witness. But aside from Mik’s out-of-drag identity, this queen also slayed the competition by winning two of the most highly-coveted maxi challenges in the franchise: the Ball and the Snatch Game.

As a Drag Race season 13 finalist, Gottmik was one of only two queens who never landed in the Bottom Two over the course of the show. This spotless track record made a solid case for RuPaul to crown Gottmik as the winner of the season, but when it came down to the Lip Sync For The Crown, it was ultimately Symone’s fate to fight her way to the top and snatch the crown. With that said, Gottmik’s fans shouldn’t be too pressed, as these two L.A. queens are very close friends and are undoubtedly happy for each other’s success.

Speaking of Gottmik and Symone synergy, these two RuPaul’s Drag Race finalists were showered with compliments in a Los Angeles Times feature story about their time on the show. Specifically, the publication credited Gottmik’s “punk-rock ‘gorge’ looks and wicked humor” as the things that took her to the very end of the competition. If that weren’t cool enough, Vogue also dedicated an entire feature story to talk about Gottmik’s fashion, describing it as “always campy, but nods to high-fashion designers.” On Instagram, Gottmik is very close to reaching 1 million followers, which is very impressive for a contestant that is just coming out of a season of Drag Race.

At the moment, Gottmik is also focusing on creating lots of content for their YouTube channel, which has over 130,000 subscribers right now. Gottmik always identified as a makeup and fashion drag artist, but on Drag Race, they also discovered their sharp skills for comedy and for acting. Even with the current constraints that come with the COVID-19 pandemic, Gottmik is a Drag Race alum that was born to thrive in this digital age of drag.

The world is ready to embrace Gottmik as this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race comes to an end. Despite not snatching the crown in the end, Mik is definitely considered a fan-favorite, which is all that really matters.
