10 Best – You’ll Know The Bottom When You Hit It (Episode 12) 8.5/10

During the antepenultimate frame of Season 9, Fiona and the gang deal with a stifling blackout on a summer day in Southside Chicago. While Kevin uses the horde of excess meat V purchased to throw a barbecue block party, Fiona has other ideas in mind.

When Fiona learns 97% of Chicago has power restored, she organizes a march to vocally oppose the discrimination against the Southsiders, who are left in the dark. Meanwhile, Lip attempts to show a DCFS officer he can suitably raise Xan in the Gallagher home.

9 Worst – Los Diablos! (Episode 10) 8.0/10

Fiona is shaken to the core when a trio of potential thieves threaten her inside Patsy’s diner late at night. Out of fear, Fiona increases her alcoholic intake on the job.

Elsewhere, enters a competition to become the Hobo Man, the official mascot of the new alcoholic beverage, Hobo Loco. While competing, Frank (William H. Macy) meets his rival Mikey (Luis Guzman), whom he ultimately befriends. Carl grows concerned over Debbie stealing his military girlfriend Kelly.

8 Best – The Hobo Games (Episode 11) 8.5/10

In The Hobo Games, Frank and Mikey compete in the final round to become the official Hobo Man. Unfortunately, their plan to throw the competition and split the money backfires spectacularly.

The crux of the drama, however, revolves around Lip’s attempt to officially adopt Xan as a legal guardian. His plan is upended when Fiona refuses to curb her hard-partying. Fiona looks for Lip at his motorcycle shop but meets his AA sponsee Jason instead. When Fiona enables Jason’s relapse with a shot of vodka, Lip throws her out of the Gallagher house.

7 Worst – The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Alibi (Episode 8) 7.7/10

As the subtitle suggests, Fiona continues to mirror her father Frank’s self-destructive path of alcohol abuse. As Fiona falls further down the hole, Debbie is forced to step in and handle the household decisions.

As Carl and Kelly progress their relationship under the nose of her strict military father, Lip sees a softer and more maternal side of Tami when she helps calm Xan down. Meanwhile, Frank agrees to impregnate Ingrid with six IVF eggs that he gets Carl to unwittingly provide.

6 Best – Down Like The Titanic (Episode 7) 8.5/10

Fiona sinks to a new low right at the midway point of the season. After discovering Ford has a wife and child, she drunkenly crashes his SUV and flees the scene with bloody wounds on her face. As if things couldn’t be worse, Fiona also learns her $100,000 real-estate investment is on the rocks.

Debbie finds Fiona, consoles her, and encourages her to get back up. Meanwhile, Tami reenters Lip’s life, while Frank is over the moon about his new relationship with the wildly unhinged Ingrid.

5 Worst – Do Right, Vote White (Episode 4) 7.7/10

In the 100th episode of Shameless, Frank is shocked to learn that the disgraced Congressional candidate Mo White, whose campaign he organized, won the election with 52% of the vote.

Elsewhere, Ian faces trial for his part in setting a van on fire in the name of his alter ego, Gay Jesus. As Ian struggles with how to plead, Carl’s manhood is tested by a fellow West Point applicant who challenges him to a duel. With Xan’s mother MIA, Lip is forced to decide how to handle the little’s girl future.

4 Best – Face It, You’re Gorgeous (Episode 6) 9.1/10

Courtney Cox makes a guest appearance in Episode 6, in which she plays an alcoholic actress who hires Lip to be her sober companion in the hours prior to her important meeting.

Meanwhile, Fiona feels the heat of her real-estate investment starting to crumble. As she tries to keep the pieces together, Ford applies increasing pressure to move in with him. While Kevin and V deal with the fallout of show-and-tell at the daughters’ school, Ian is relieved to find his boyfriend Mickey waiting for him in prison.

3 Worst – Weirdo Gallagher Vortex (Episode 3) 7.6/10

Frank’s job difficulty as Mo White’s campaign manager increases when he learns the candidate has a history as a sex-offender against minors. Despite polling at 3 percent, Frank continues to lobby for White.

Elsewhere, Carl needs a recommendation to West Point Military Academy. He asks V for help, who has a sordid S&M relationship with one of the recruiters. As Fiona stresses over her impending real-estate deal, Lip resorts to sneaking Xan out of the hospital when DCFS can’t locate her parents.

2 Best – Found (Episode 14) 9.2/10

According to IMDB, the Season 9 finale of Shameless Found the largest amount of support. The emotional sendoff marks the official goodbye of Fiona Gallagher, arguably the heart and soul of the entire series.

After receiving a $100,000 buyout from Max, Fiona visits Ian in jail. Ian urges her to leave and never look back, which Fiona ultimately does at the end of the show. Lip and the gang throw a going-away party for her, but she leaves before it gets started. As Fiona sets off to start life anew, she leaves $50,000 for Debbie to take care of the family.

1 Worst – Mo White! (Episode 2) 7.5/10

The lowest-rated episode of Shameless Season 9, according to IMDB, is the second chapter Mo White! The episode continues to set up the major story arcs of the season, including Frank’s involvement in politics, Fiona’s real-estate investments, Carl’s West Point application, and Ian’s legal woes.

The episode also includes Debbie’s struggle to find support in her workplace sexual harassment protest, as well as Kevin and V’s desire to find an ideal preschool for their twin girls.
