Snapchat Won’t Open Again: App Constantly Crashing For Users

Snapchat users are currently experiencing an issue where the app won’t open and just crashes instead. Technically, this is not a new issue, as the app famous for Snaps, has encountered similar problems in the past. Most recently, the Snapchat app was crashing just last month although the problem was fixed fairly quickly via a software update.

Snapchat is one of the big social media apps. While not quite as old as Facebook and Twitter, it is much older than the likes of TikTok. It is possible that this in-between age has managed to keep Snapchat in the mix, as it’s an app that appeals to both younger and slightly less younger users, as well as Android and iOS users in relatively equal measure. Regardless of its age, and like most apps, Snapchat has its fair share of problems.

A number of users have taken to other social media platforms, including Twitter, to explain how the Snapchat app won’t open. Essentially, every time the user tries to launch the app, it just closes again. This is almost exactly the same issue many were experiencing last month when the app would just crash upon trying to open. Coincidentally, it was almost exactly one month ago when Snapchat confirmed (on Twitter) that the issue had been fixed.

No Snapchat Fix Yet, But It’s Coming

Snapchat has acknowledged there is an issue with the app, specifically referring to an “issue preventing some Snapchatters from logging in” and stating a fix is currently being worked on. While the information provided so far is limited, there are some points to be aware of from the last time this issue happened. Firstly, the last time the crashes only seemed to be affecting iOS users, so it is possible that not all Snapchatters are currently impacted. Secondly, the issue was eventually fixed by way of a software update, so it is likely the same will happen again.

Speaking of which, it may actually be an update that caused the problem to begin with. For example, Snapchat confirmed the previous fix update rolled out on June 28 with version number 11.34.1.35. Since then, the app has received a number of routine updates and the latest iOS update arrived today, June 29, as version 11.38.1.39. As is always the case with Snapchat app updates, the changelog simply states “bug fixes” but considering the timing of the update and the user reports, this latest one may have inadvertently added a bug this time. Either way, it is likely another app update will be coming soon to fix the Snapchat won’t open issue.
