Star Wars: 10 Most Powerful Characters Who Aren’t Force-Sensitive, Ranked

The force is with everyone in the Star Wars mythos but it seems to prefer certain individuals, particularly moody Skywalkers. The result is that some people in the Star Wars universe have better privileges than others, like telekinesis and better chances at life. Still, that makes the outstanding non-force sensitive people all the more impressive.

These are the individuals who have managed to stay in the competition and race despite being born normal. In a sense, they can be even more dangerous since they had to work hard to keep up and overcompensate for their lack of force powers. These individuals can prove to be as effective as the Jedi and Sith even though the force was only with them half the time.

10 R2-D2

Given how lucky he is, R2-D2 might as well be force sensitive. He’s a non-combat droid who can easily change the outcome of missions or battlefields with some skillful hacking. R2 has been around for several decades, around 66 years, and has survived countless wars.

He was also there to witness the most crucial events in the galaxy. It’s also fair to say that without R2, the Skywalker line would have stopped with Anakin since he has saved both his owner and Obi-Wan with nothing but an elevator hack and oftentimes, as a co-pilot droid.

9 Han Solo

Han Solo’s journey was even more impressive than Anakin’s since he’s practically self-made and didn’t rely on special intervention from the Jedi. This street rat rose from his disposition to one of the most esteemed war heroes of the Republic.

Before that, he was likely the most underrated smuggler and gunslinger in the Outer Rim. Han Solo’s shooting skills are no doubt impressive and he can manage to outgun established bounty hunters like Greedo. There’s also the fact that his piloting skills are second to none, one would think that the force is strong with him thanks to this.

8 Chewbacca

Often overshadowed by Han Solo’s charisma and human vocabulary, this long-loved Star Wars icon is the most recognizable Wookie ever, even though they all look alike. As for just how strong he is, Chewie is also a decent pilot and can stand in for Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon.

When it comes to combat usefulness, he’s actually more impressive than Han. Chewie is a veteran of the Clone Wars and is well-trained in blasters. He even managed to shoot and hurt Kylo Ren with his Bowcaster. In melee range, he doesn’t even need weapons as Wookie’s are innately strong, making Chewbacca a versatile combatant.

7 IG-11

Speaking of versatility, Droids are also not exempt from such a trait. IG droids have been popular choices for automated bounty hunters due to their durability and their professionalism. One of them, IG-11 wouldn’t even hesitate to kill an infant for credits and for the sake of competence.

As for an IG droid’s combat prowess, these things are one-man armies. As demonstrated by IG-11 in The Mandalorian, he can easily take on multiple ranged assailants from multiple directions, making him more effective than the typical soldier. What makes IG-11 more valuable, however, is his healing capability— without him, Din Djarin would have been long dead.

6 Pre Vizsla

Being able to fight a Sith Lord making it a close fight is impressive enough in itself, not many Mandalorians can claim to have done such a feat. While Pre Vizsla was eventually defeated by Darth Maul and executed shortly afterward, he still managed to survive longer than most regular people who faced force-users.

To be fair to Pre Vizsla, he was also not trained in lightsaber combat as well as Darth Maul and he likely wasn’t in his prime anymore. Regardless, it takes a special amount of toughness and ferocity to become the leader of Mandalore, and Pre Vizsla managed to do it.

5 Moff Gideon

Owning the Darksaber should be proof enough of one’s strength and unsurprisingly, it has changed hands many times with one of the most recent owners being Moff Gideon. Whether he acquired it through traditional Mandalorian means or just picked it up during the purge of Mandalore, he’s shown that he’s capable enough of wielding such a weapon.

Moff Gideon gave quite a respectable fight against a true Mandalorian, namely Din Djarin. The thing, without Din’s armor, he probably would’ve lost to Gideon. Even without the Dark Saber, Gideon being a high-ranking Empire figure was enough to make him notorious.

4 Din Djarin

Now since Din Djarin defeated Mof Gideon fair and square, he’s higher up in the hierarchy and rightfully owns the Darksaber right now. It’s not like he needs it either, as one of the most capable Mandalorians to ever exist, Din Djarin has gone by with pure skill and Mandalorian weaponry.

He has proven that he can take on a force-user without any problem at all, as he demonstrated with Ahsoka Tano. He can also easily dispatch multiple Stormtroopers without any problem though he mostly relies on his Beskar armor for such occasions.

3 Boba Fett

When Din Djarin started hogging the bucket-head hero spotlight in Star Wars, Boba Fett simply had to put him back in his place. After all, Boba Fett was the original Mandalorian on-screen and the first one Star Wars had shown. It only makes sense that he’s more formidable and more experienced than Mando.

Sure enough, he took on his own clones like they were mere children to be bullied in the playground. He also saved Mando and Fennec Shand in the process, both of whom are adept combatants in their own right.

2 General Grievous

With how evil factions in Star Wars are structured, the most powerful tend to be on the top of the echelon. General Grievous earns his spot well since he’s a certified Jedi Killer and not many regular individuals can do what he achieved.

General Grievous killed not just four but around 20+ Jedi and took all their lightsabers as his tokens. He was also trained well by Count Dooku in the Jedi Arts so he supposedly knew how to fight like one. Being able to wield four lightsabers is proof enough.

1 Cad Bane

It’s not often a bounty hunter gets to face two high-ranking members of the Jedi Order and even toy with them. Who could do such a feat? None other than Cad Bane, of course. He’s prominently featured in the Clone Wars series and took on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos.

Any other bounty hunter would have run out of limbs or their head early on but Cad Bane even took Quinlan Vos’ lightsaber and fought Obi-Wan with it. Seeing how the fight went, Cad Bane could have bagged Obi-Wan’s or Quinlan’s head if either of them weren’t there to help the other.
