Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The 5 Best & 5 Worst Episodes Of Season 3 (According To IMDb)

After two great seasons, The Clone Wars kicked it up a notch with its third season, containing some of the most well-remembered and epic stories of the entire series. It introduces some great characters, develops already great characters, and adds a lot to the lore of Star Wars with a lot of what goes on in the season.

Seeing the growth of Domino squad as well as meeting ninety-nine is incredible, as is the Citadel arc, Ahsoka’s kidnapping is also great, but with other such immense episodes, they do not even make it on here. However, there is also some very mediocre and straight-up bad stuff in amongst the brilliance.

10 Worst – “Sphere Of Influence” (7.2)

“Sphere Of Influence” is an episode that acts as a filler to the overarching stories going on, but gives a glimpse into the lives of people outside of the Jedi who get affected by war.

It sees Ahsoka team up with Riyo Chuchi, the Senator of Pantora, to aid Chairman Papanoida in finding his kidnapped family, exposing the Separatists as being behind it all.

9 Best – “Monster” (8.8)

The Nightsister trilogy is one of the very best Clone Wars arcs there is, and its second episode, “Monster,” introduces fans to an essential character going forward, Maul’s brother Savage Opress.

The episode sees Talzin and Ventress exact their plan to give Dooku a warrior to replace Ventress, with the warrior being Savage, who is under the influence of magic and working for Talzin and Ventress. It is a brilliant episode all round with great characters and a dive into life on Dathomir.

8 Worst – “Supply Lines” (7.1)

Ima-Gun Di is an incredibly strange character as his carefully chosen name lets fans know what is going to happen to the Jedi, and it happens on his first appearance in the show “Supply Lines.”

The episode sees Ima-Gun Di and his clones trapped on Ryloth by the droids, with Senator Bail Organa and Jar-Jar desperately trying to get King of Toydaria to send aid to the Twi’lek’s there. As his name suggests, Ima-Gun Di dies after protecting Ryloth and fighting off droids admirably.

7 Best – “Altar Of Mortis” (8.8)

The Mortis arc is the first piece of genuine out there genius content that looks into not only the Force but also into Anakin and the prophecy of him being the chosen one. It is outstanding and expertly crafted, with “Altar Of Mortis” as the second episode of the trilogy.

The episode sees the Son abduct Ahsoka and infect her with the Dark Side in an attempt to lure Anakin to join forces, all while the Sister shows Obi-Wan the Dagger of Mortis, the only weapon capable of killing the three. It ends with the daughter sacrificing herself when the Brother attempts to kill the Father, with the Sister using Anakin to transfer her last life energy into Ahsoka’s now dead body.

6 Worst – “The Academy” (7.0)

Mandalore may be the setting for some of the consistently best episodes of The Clone Wars, but that does not mean every episode there is perfect, as is shown by a two-part episode in season three.

The second part, “The Academy,” sees Ahsoka get assigned to tutor at a leadership academy on the planet, while a group of students, including Satine’s nephew Korkie, uncover the black market conspiracy in which Almec is involved.

5 Best – “Ghosts Of Mortis” (8.9)

“Ghosts Of Mortis” follows up “Altar Of Mortis” and is the final episode of the arc with the three Jedi remaining stranded on Mortis, and the Son still attempts to sway Anakin to join forces.

In doing this, the Son shows Anakin visions of his future and the darkness that lies ahead. In doing this, he messes with the rules of time, and the Father wipes Anakin’s memory of all events before impaling himself with the Dagger of Mortis, allowing Anakin to kill the Son with his lightsaber. The planet then disappears with the Jedi on their ship, and no time having past, and Anakin having no recollection of the events.

4 Worst – “Corruption” (7.0)

“Corruption” is the first episode of the two-part story that takes audiences to Mandalore for the weakest story set on the iconic and beloved planet.

It is one of those occasions where the show goes into strange territory with its storylines. The episode has Padmé on a diplomatic mission to Mandalore, where she and Satine find out about smugglers sneaking in bottled tea with hazardous chemicals, affecting an entire school.

3 Best – “Overlords” (8.9)

Rounding out the Mortis trilogy, with all three making it to the best side of things according to IMDb, the first episode “Overlords” is truly mind-boggling as fans get introduced to all these new things.

Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka get drawn to a mysterious planet – Mortis – where they meet a family of God-like beings, the Father who keeps the balance, the Son who embodies the Dark Side, and the Daughter who embodies the Light Side. The Father reveals that he is dying and needs someone to take his place, that being Anakin, and puts him to the test to see if he can control the Son and Daughter and figuring out once and for all if he is the chosen one. Anakin is given a choice to stay and bring balance, or to be selfish and leave, taking the latter, with familiar music playing as he does so, of course, they end up stuck there.

2 Worst – “Evil Plans” (6.3)

For some reason, when The Clone Wars and Rebels decide to do episodes that focus mainly on the droids, even droids as iconic as Artoo and Threepio, they more often than not do not work. That is especially true for “Evil Plans.”

The episode sees Artoo and Threepio sent out for Jogan Fruit, only to get captured by Cad Bane, who is looking to extract information about the Senate building for Jabba the Hutt, information which he uncovers, sending the droids on there way afterward.

1 Best – “Witches Of The Mist” (9.0)

Going back to the Nightsister trilogy, “Witches Of The Mist” is the final episode of that arc, and an incredible one at that, solidifying the story as one of the best in The Clone Wars’ run.

Obi-Wan and Anakin go to Dathomir to find out about the figure who has killed multiple Jedi – Savage – all while Asajj attacks Dooku, revealing Savage to be working with her. Dooku deals with the pair, with Ventress fleeing and Savage returning to Talzin, who gives him a new mission, to find his brother.
