Jeff Probst revealed the Survivor 42 castaways, and it’s time to share information about Daniel Strunk, who will be a part of the onscreen action. He is already a survivor, as he lived with leukemia as a teenager. Now, he is ready to compete for the show’s $1 million prize and the coveted Sole Survivor title that goes along with it. Similar to season 41, Survivor season 42 was filmed during quarantine and features a shorter, 26-day version of the game. Daniel is 30 and he was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. One favorite tradition growing up in Ohio was watching Survivor every week with members of his family while eating pizza and cookies. Daniel moved from Ohio to Durham, North Carolina to attend Duke University. Currently, he is living in New Haven, Connecticut.
Job
Daniel is a law firm associate who used to be a law clerk. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Duke, Daniel went on to get his Master’s in public policy at Trinity College Dublin. He later attended Yale law school, where he graduated in 2019. He’s previously worked on political campaigns for Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush. He thinks his time at Yale, where he was surrounded by ambitious people, prepared him for the social game of Survivor. When Daniel had leukemia, he needed years of chemotherapy. He credits watching Survivor with keeping his spirits up during that very tough time in his life.
Although Daniel devours all the Survivor podcasts and Reddit threads, he’s relatively non-existent on social media. His Instagram account @danielfstrunk is currently set to private. In his Instagram bio, he describes himself as a “plaintiff-side lawyer.” He also has a Twitter account, @uptownstrunk.
Daniel is an expert student of the game of Survivor. He is coming into Survivor season 42 with some strategies. He decided to let his hair grow out in an attempt to come off as goofy rather than threatening. With his impressive academic background and personal resilience, as well as a nuanced understanding of the game, Daniel will be one to watch on Survivor 42.
