The 10 Best Shows On Disney+, Ranked According To Rotten Tomatoes

This happens to be a golden age of streaming, and there are numerous quality television programs available on the numerous streaming platforms. One of the most impressive newcomers to the streaming game is Disney+, which has already made quite a splash with its streaming offerings.  Even if you could argue the media giant is a little late to the streaming game (although they were already the majority owner of Hulu), there’s no doubt that they’ve quickly become one of the top contenders in the streaming wars.

Even though it’s been a sizable chunk of mainstream culture since Walt created his animated star Mickey Mouse in 1928, before the new service debuted there were few places to view many of its offerings. In fact, many of the series now available to stream on the service have been very well-reviewed by the critics over at Rotten Tomatoes.

10 Marvel’s Hero Project (2019-) 92%

If you need a show to remind you that good people exist in the world, it’s Hero Project, which is focused on the premise of showcasing real-life superheroes rather than the slate of superhumans typically offered by Marvel. It’s one of those shows that seems designed to pull on the heartstrings. At the same time, it’s a potent (and necessary) reminder that there really are heroes out there in the world, doing everything they can to make it a better place.

9 The Mandalorian (2019-) 93%

Given that some of the more recent films set in the Star Wars universe have received a bit of a lukewarm reception, it’s kind of surprising to see the praise that’s been heaped on The Mandalorian. However, there’s no denying that there’s a lot to love about the show, including but not limited to the titular character (who’s voiced by none other than Pedro Pascal). Arguably, however, the real star of the show is the little creature known as Baby Yoda, who has taken the internet (and hearts everywhere) by storm.

8 Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2020) 93%

For those who just can’t get enough of Star Wars, there’s also The Clone Wars, an animated series that’s set between the second and third installments of the prequel trilogy. Here, the audience finally gets to learn of the many events that took place as the Galaxy was plagued by all sorts of conflicts, all of which would ultimately result in the death of the Republic and the rise of the Empire.

It’s a gorgeously animated show with compelling and riveting writing.

7 Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018) 98%

Star Wars Rebels continues the adventures in the Galaxy, this time taking place closer to the events of the original trilogy. This time, it’s focused on the fledgling Rebellion, as well as the Empire’s nefarious efforts to hunt down and utterly destroy the last remaining Jedi in the Galaxy. What really sets this particular series apart is definitely its animation, which has a style that one doesn’t see very often. It’s a show sure to delight both fans and newcomers alike.

6 Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian (2020-) 100%

There’s a unique sort of pleasure in watching behind-the-scenes documentaries. They give viewers an inside look at what makes a series tick. In this case, the audience is invited inside the very popular and well-received Mandalorian. It also happens to be hosted by Jon Favreau, the mind behind the creation of the series. As a result, the audience gets to understand what makes this creative genius tick and how he managed to bring this series to such stunning visual life.

5 Ducktales (2017-) 100%

In some ways, this seems to be the era of the reboot. Every cartoon and film and television series seems to have been reimagined in some form or another. Some of these have been on the bad side, but every so often one comes along that really helps to add another layer of appreciation to the original while also charting its own course. Disney’s Ducktales is one such, and while there are some homages to the 1980s television cartoon, this is a series all its own, and that is definitely for the good.

4 The Imagineering Story (2019) 100%

There’s no question that Disney has become one of the most powerful entertainment companies in the world. As a result, sometimes it can seem a bit cold and impersonal. Fortunately, there are shows like The Imagineering Story, which takes viewers on a historical journey through the creation of the various parks and entertainment venues that the company has created over the years, beginning with the original Disneyland and including other places and venues such as Disney World and Disney cruises.

3 Gravity Falls (2012-2016) 100%

For those in the mood for a rather light-hearted animated series focusing on mysteries and the supernatural, Gravity Falls is just the ticket. It’s one of those series that feels like a bit of a throwback to earlier periods of animation, when a simple story well-told could become quite popular and earn the adulation of critics. It’s no wonder that the series would go on to earn such a high score from Rotten Tomatoes.

The only bad thing is that there aren’t more episodes to enjoy.

2 Diary of a Future President (2020-) 100%

This is another of those shows from Disney that shows that the studio is still very capable of telling compelling stories that capture the heart of the American story. In this case, the series focuses on a young Cuban-American girl who has aspirations to be President of the United States. It’s a remarkably sweet and charming show, and it deftly moves between the registers of comedy and drama, and it’s very easy to see why it has received such a warm reception.

1 Rogue Trip (2020-) 100%

Disney+ has excelled not just at producing and distributing dramas and comedies; it’s also dipped into the world of documentary. Rogue Trip is another one of those shows that is designed to remind viewers of the beauty and goodness in the world. Despite the fact that its hosts travel to some the some of the most tumultuous and troubled places on the planet, the series focuses on the more hopeful aspects of such locales, including the beautiful grandeur of the scenery and the people there who do everything they can to make their own lives better.
