The Bachelor: Carly Waddell Opens Up About Split From Evan Bass

Carly Waddell from The Bachelor franchise is opening up about her surprise split from her husband, Evan Bass.

The couple shares two children and met while filming Bachelor in Paradise season 3. At first, Carly was not open to having a relationship with Evan, but he kept pursuing her, and she began to develop feelings for him. During the final rose ceremony, Evan got down on one knee and proposed to Carly. She said yes. A year later, the couple was married in the exact spot where they got engaged.

In a recent YouTube video, Carly, 35, got candid about her breakup with Evan, according to People. “I call this the divorce room because this is where Evan told me he wanted a divorce. He was sitting right where I’m sitting,” she began, showing viewers her new home. The mother of two also briefly spoke about their date of separation, which many fans have been wondering about. “There’s been weird stuff going on about people asking me when we separated,” she explained, adding, “We separated a day after Thanksgiving.” While this split may come as a shock to fans, the Bachelor in Paradise couple had long-term problems. She revealed that she and Evan have been going to therapy for years, but ultimately couldn’t make their relationship work. Carly also said that she and Evan would always put their kids before their relationship. In the end, that was their downfall. Carly remarked that she told Evan it was his call to end the relationship. “I always told him that if he wanted out then it was his call because I’m just a person that would never be out,” she added. She continued, “So, what are you gonna do? If somebody doesn’t want to be with you, they don’t want to be with you.” See Carly in a Christmas Instagram post below:

The video ended on a positive note, with Carly having high hopes for 2021. “I think that 2021 is gonna be just great,” she said. “I want to be happy because I deserve it.” The former couple announced their separation two days before Christmas. They made a joint statement revealing that while they cherish their memories, they feel the decision to separate is best for them and their family. On Christmas day, Carly shared a picture on Instagram (as seen above) with her two children, Charles “Charlie” Wolf, 1, and Isabella “Bella” Evelyn, 2. In her caption, she spoke about how this Christmas felt “incredibly abnormal, and actually very sad” because it was just her and the kids. She also added that Christmas night would be the first time her children would be staying overnight at Evan’s.

Carly and Evan did not have the fairytale ending they wanted, but in the end, the decision to go their separate ways may be healthy for both of them, and their kids.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 pm EST on ABC.
