The Best Fishing Spots in Genshin Impact

Version 2.1 of Genshin Impact added fishing to the game, along with some new rewards, so it is important to know where to find the best fishing spots. Prior to the update, players were still able to catch fish to use in cooking recipes. It consisted of swimming around and snatching them up out of the water, which isn’t exactly the most fun activity.

That tactic still exists in Genshin Impact, but now there is more immersive, fun, and rewarding fishing in the game. Players use a fishing pole and different types of bait for catching a variety of new types of fish. Instead of cooking these fish, they will trade them with members of the Fishing Association for items. Fishing can only be done in certain parts of the world though, and they are static spots, which means players will only encounter them in specific places.

Players can plan out a fishing expedition in Genshin Impact if they so choose, and they can catch the kind of fish they want. To unlock bait recipes and get new fishing poles as well as other items, players need to catch specific types of fish. Generally speaking, they will also need to catch a lot of them.

Planning a Fishing Expedition in Genshin Impact

The easiest way to know where all the fishing spots are in Genshin Impact’s ever-growing world is to use an interactive map. It tells the locations of the fish and what type of fish can be found at each fishing spot. That only tells half the story though. Just because there is a fishing spot in a particular location doesn’t mean it’s worth the time or effort to reach it.

The best fishing spots in the game are the ones that are close to waypoints, domains, or Statues of the Seven. In this way, players can quickly get to the fishing spot, catch the fish they want until there are none left, then immediately travel to the next waypoint with a nearby fishing spot to continue. It’s all about efficiency, and if done properly, players can get a big haul in a short amount of time.

The Best Fishing Spots in Genshin Impact

Here are some of the best places to visit for fishing in Genshin Impact. They all have a variety of fish, so chances are that if players are searching for a specific type of fish such as the Abiding Angelfish, they will likely find what they are looking for at one or more of these locations.

Mondstadt Fishing Spots

  • The waypoint just outside of Mondstadt – there’s a fishing spot just to the north, across from the eastern beach where the Mondstadt Fishing Association guy is located.
  • Springvale waypoint – just north of this waypoint is a fishing spot.
  • The waypoint south of the Anemo Hypostasis in the Stormbearer Mountains – a few steps away to the northeast of the waypoint is a fishing spot.
  • The waypoint leading to Starglow Cavern in Dragonspine – instead of dropping down into Starglow Cavern, head west from the waypoint to a lake. Conveniently, there is also a source of warmth at the fishing spot, so don’t worry about freezing.
  • The waypoint at the entrance to Stormterror’s Lair – head north across the bridge. Halfway across, drop off the left (west) side onto the island below with a fishing spot.

Liyue Fishing Spots

  • Wangshu Inn waypoint – west of Wangshu Inn, across the water are some shacks with docks. The farthest one has a fishing spot. On the map, it’s on the part of the beach that juts out. Players can get there quickly by gliding.
  • Aocang waypoint – north of the waypoint is a pool with an island in the center, and the location of a fishing area.
  • Hulao waypoint – jump off the cliff and glide directly east. The fishing spot is on the other side of the river and is easy to see from above.
  • Hidden Place of Guizang Formula in Luhua Pool – glide up and out of the pit, and just to the north is a fishing spot.
  • The waypoint west of Mingyun Village – from here, head west to the broken bridge. On the southern side halfway across is a fishing spot.

Inazuma Fishing Spots

Oddly enough, there are surprisingly few fishing spots for a nation that consists of a series of islands and has a boat as a form of transportation. Still, there are some areas where fish congregate that are worth visiting.

  • Nazuchi Beach waypoint – look to the west from the waypoint. There is a ship that has been broken in half (where Inaba Kyuuzou is located). At the stern of the ship is a fishing spot.
  • The waypoint north of Sangonomiya Shrine – south of the waypoint, and all the way down is a fishing point underneath an overhanging cliff. Just glide down.
  • The Statue of the Seven on Seirai Island – there are actually two fishing spots here. The first one is in the water just below the statue. The other one is on the eastern bank a little farther south. Technically, it is closer to the waypoint east of the statue, but the statue is better to travel to because it heals injured party members. Beware that the second fishing spot is beyond a lightning barrier, so it’s a good idea to get rid of the Seirai Island Storm first.

There are other fishing spots in the game, and more will be more added over time as the player continues their adventure across the world of Teyvat. The above spots are easily accessible and close to waypoints, so players don’t have to waste time walking or fighting their way through hordes of enemies to get to them.

This is good for those who play on mobile devices too. Controlling a character is sometimes finicky on a mobile device, with combat being more difficult than with a keyboard and mouse or a controller. So fishing is a great activity instead for mobile users, along with reading the many books found throughout the game. Players can quickly get to fishing, which is especially useful for those with limited time to play.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS.
