The Flash season 7 could introduce a new version of Vibe. This mantle has always belonged to Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdez) in the Arrowverse, but he no longer has his powers; however, this doesn’t mean the hero is gone from the Arrowverse: the next season of the CW series could see a different character take his place and wear the Vibe gauntlets.
For a while, Cisco’s job in Team Flash was being the tech expert, but his role evolved when he realized that he too had gained metahuman abilities from the particle accelerator. After discovering that his vibrational powers allowed him to open portals and more, Cisco took the name “Vibe” in season 2 and started joining the Flash in the field. Cisco was enthusiastic about helping Barry (Grant Gustin) protect Central City, but over time, Cisco developed new opinions about his powers and helped Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) create a metahuman cure. Once Cisco took the cure, he returned to his original role in Team Flash.
It could be that The Flash will give Cisco’s superhero identity to another Arrowverse character in season 7, since it’s unlikely that he would reassume the role. Cisco had his abilities unwillingly restored by the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) during Crisis on Infinite Earths, but once the multiverse was reborn, he was back to being powerless. Since The Flash passed up an easy opportunity to make Cisco Vibe again, it would seem that the series truly has moved on from his days as a superhero. As for who could take his place, Cisco’s brother Dante Ramon (Nicholas Gonzalez) feels like a strong candidate.
Dante, a character Team Flash had to save in season 1 but hasn’t been around in several years, was killed offscreen in an accident involving a drunk driver. His death was believed to be one of the timeline changes made by Flashpoint in season 3. It’s possible that on Earth-Prime, Dante is still alive somewhere in the Arrowverse. Furthermore, the new Earth-Prime Dante Ramon could have been given Vibe powers by the particle accelerator. The original Dante didn’t have abilities of any kind, but his Earth-2 counterpart from season 2 was a metahuman villain called Rupture who could emit plasma energy. The Flash season 7 could reveal that the rebirth of the multiverse rebooted Dante and combined aspects of both characters.
Bringing Dante back could allow the series to create a third take on his character. Plus, this could provide an interesting new storyline for Cisco. In the old timeline, Cisco had a strained relationship with his brother, but when they were last seen together, they were trying to become closer. The Flash could explore what sort of relationship Cisco would have with Dante if he was a member (or an ally) of Team Flash. Cisco could give Dante the Vibe gauntlets and attempt to mentor him. Regardless, having a Vibe around again would certainly be a big help to the team, especially since they may be down one superhero with Elongated Man (Hartley Sawyer) being dropped from The Flash.
