The Truth About Story Of Seasons’ Unicorn Mount

Purchasing a mount is an exciting milestone when playing Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. The farmstead in the newest farming game for the Story of Seasons series is broken into three large areas, and a mode of transportation cuts down the time it takes to get across the entire farm. However, unlike past Story of Seasons titles, players can own more than just a horse. Mounts do include different colored horses, but there is also a motorbike, a large grey wolf, and even a unicorn. However, the mythical unicorn mount has a secret that may leave fans disappointed.

While players unlock their first house by renovating the dilapidated stable on their farm, other transportation can take a little longer to gain access to. The Motorbike has to be repaired with expensive resources and the help of the repairman Clemmens. Meanwhile, the unicorn and grey wolf in Story of Seasons is accessed by unlocking the Shrine, and then collecting enough Harvest Sprites. Both the Wolf and the Unicorn can be unlocked for 30 Sprite Points after accumulating 300 Harvest Sprites.

Once unlocked at the Story of Seasons Shrine, both the wolf and unicorn mounts become available for purchase at the pet shop in Olive Town. However, neither option is cheap. Both will cost the player 80,000g, and require a stable of their own to stay dry and warm. While purchasing and riding the grey wolf is exciting and far more satisfying than the horses or motorbike options, players who invest in the unicorn will quickly realize they have been tricked.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town’s Unicorn Mount Is A Scam

The unicorn in Story of Seasons is a fake. Instead of a spiraling horn protruding from its forehead, the mane has been styled into a great spike. While the horse itself is pretty, spending 80,000g on a regular horse with an interesting hair-do is likely to frustrate many players. While some could argue including a mythical creature like a unicorn appearing in a farming simulation game would feel out of place, Story of Seasons already includes sprites only the player can see, mythical goddesses, and beanstalk towers that grow high into the sky. With all of these fantasy elements, the inclusion of a unicorn doesn’t seem like the greatest stretch.

After learning the truth about the “unicorn” in Story of Seasons, players may choose to save their stable space and money for other mount options, or farm upgrades. While the fake unicorn might be a bust, the “Gorgeous Horse,” which can be unlocked at the Shrine after obtaining 150 Harvest Sprites, is a great choice for fans of traditional equine mounts. The animal’s thick mane and rich, dark brown color make it a majestic partner for gallivanting around a farmstead. It is also possible more mount options might become available when the DLC for Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town begins releasing in upcoming months.
