Total War: Warhammer 3 – How to Level Kairos Fateweaver

Unlike most other mechanics in Total War: Warhammer 3, the best methods of leveling Lords in Total War: Warhammer 3 can be very elusive. This complexity increases when the player needs to level their Legendary Lords: unique Lords that have their own unique skill trees, passives, and stats. Players wishing to complete the Realms of Chaos campaign will want their Lord to be as powerful as possible. For those that choose to play as the Oracles of Tzeentch, Kairos Fateweaver will be their Legendary Lord. While Kairos Fateweaver can be one of the most powerful Legendary Lords in Total War: Warhammer 3, his skill tree is complex and has many options for players. Lords can only gain 49 skill points to spend so knowing which skills to invest skill points in is crucial to success as the Oracles of Tzeentch.

What makes Kairos Fateweaver different from the leaders of other factions in Total War: Warhammer 3 like the Lords of Kislev, is his spellcasting ability. While Kairos Fateweaver starts the game with access to the Lore of Tzeentch, his skill tree allows him to gain access to spells of other Lores of Magic starting at level 11. The first point in each of the Fragment skills will unlock an equipable item that will replace two spells from the Lore of Tzeentch with spells from that Fragment’s associate Lore of Magic. The second point in the Fragment’s skill line will add that Lore of Magic’s passive bonus to Kairos Fateweaver, regardless of whether Kairos has that fragment equipped. While many of these passives can boost Kairos Fateweaver beyond any other spellcaster in all three Total War: Warhammer games, three of these passives should be highly sought after for players. Fragment of Shyish will give the player Winds of Magic generation and Fragment of Ghyran gives the player access to army-wide healing upon the casting of any spell. The last passive players should hunt down is from the Fragment of Aqshy.

The Fragment of Aqshy’s second-tier unlocks the Kindleflame passive for Kairos Fateweaver, which can be incredibly potent in the right hands. What makes the daemons of Tzeentch different from the units of the rest of the Chaos Horde in Total War: Warhammer 3 is their reliance on fire damage. Units of the Oracles of Tzeentch either provide fire damage, or the warpfire debuff which increases the fire damage taken by an enemy hit by that attack. Players that properly apply warpfire to high-value targets can shred through those units with their fire damage units. The Kindleflame passive from the Fragment of Aqshy further amplifies this fire damage, increasing fire damage dealt to all enemies for 15 seconds after Kairos Fateweaver casts a spell. This is a massive boost to the damage output of Kairos Fateweaver’s army, and an important part of understanding how to utilize this Legendary Lord to his fullest.

Skill Point Build For Kairos Fateweaver in Total War: Warhammer 3

Players playing as Kairos Fateweaver have many options with regards to which spells they want to prioritize in Total War: Warhammer 3. The following build focuses on using Infernal Gateway as the player’s large AoE nuke, allowing the player to equip the Fragment of Shyish or the Fragment of Ghyran which replace Tzeenth’s Firestorm instead of Infernal Gateway.

  • Level 2: Route Marcher
  • Level 3: Inspiring Prescence
  • Level 4: Pink Fire of Tzeentch 2
  • Level 5: Fires of Change
  • Level 6: Prismatic Plurality
  • Level 7: Gaze of Fate
  • Level 8: Infernal Gateway
  • Level 9: Infernal Gateway 2
  • Level 10: Invulnerable Through Change
  • Level 11: Fragment of Shyish / Fragment of Ghryan
  • Level 12: Fragment of Shyish 2 / Fragment of Ghryan 2

  • Level 17: Bewitching Potency
  • Level 18: Earthing
  • Level 19: Magical Reserves
  • Level 20: Greater Arcane Conduit

With this build, players should have a well-formed core for their Kairos Fateweaver. Going forward, players should prioritize acquiring other important Fragment passives. The player should also have an idea what army composition they want to use, allowing them to dedicate skill points into Kairos that buffs those units. With these twenty levels of growth in the most powerful spellcaster in the game, players will have a massive boost in Total War: Warhammer 3.
