Twelve Minutes PlayStation, Switch Release Is Right Around The Corner

The Annapurna Interactive-published top-down thriller Twelve Minutes will launch across Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles on December 7. Twelve Minutes launched as an Xbox console exclusive in August, hitting Game Pass and PC via Steam on the same date.

Long-time game developer Luís António, whose credentials include Rockstar Games and The Witness‘ Thekla, Inc., produced Twelve Minutes independently, crafting a time loop experience that lasts only 12 minutes at a time. The title stars actors Willem Dafoe, James McAvoy, and Daisey Ridley, each of whom play a role in the narrative in which a quiet date night between a husband and wife unexpectedly turns tragic. Once the tragedy comes to an end, the couple once more finds themselves at the start of the chaos, doomed to constantly repeat the same 12-minute loop over and over again. Soon new audiences will get the chance to figure out the mystery on their own.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Polarizing adventure game Twelve Minutes is migrating to PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch early next month on December 7. Publisher Annapurna Interactive confirmed as much in a brand-new accolades trailer (via Gematsu) that highlights the title’s more complimentary reviews. The trailer says nothing of pricing details, but Twelve Minutes will presumably cost $24.99 like the Steam and Xbox versions. Check out the latest trailer in the video linked below:

As teased in the trailer, Twelve Minutes bears a fairly simple premise. A married couple’s stay-at-home date night turns sour when a police detective bursts through the door and accuses the wife of murdering a loved one. In the couple’s struggle to make sense of the claims, things go south and the husband gets brutally beaten by the officer. The duo soon thereafter returns to the start of the scene, moments before the officer bursts in, and must determine how best to ensure the next 12 minutes don’t end in bloodshed.

Much of the divisiveness regarding Twelve Minutes‘ story revolves around the narrative twists, which some players appreciated while others  responded negatively. With players across Nintendo and PlayStation platforms finally getting their hands on the experience, discourse about the top-down thriller’s tale is bound to pick up once again. It’ll be interesting to see how newcomers respond to Luís António’s opus.

Twelve Minutes is available to play now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S; the top-down thriller hits Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles on December 7.
