The World of Darkness will soon receive its own battle royale, as Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt will be coming to PC in 2021. The game was revealed at the end of 2020, with many fans being surprised at the notion of a Vampire: The Masquerade battle royale.

Vampire: The Masquerade started out as a tabletop game, where players took on the role of undead characters in modern society. The Masquerade is the name of the rule that nearly all vampires follow, which states that they cannot reveal the secret of their existence to mortals. Bloodhunt is set in modern-day Prague, where vampire sects are battling for control of the city. The most prominent sects are the Camarilla, who brutally enforce the tradition of the Masquerade, and the Anarchs, who want to bring down the established vampire society, where the eldest rule over everyone else.

Bloodhunt is an upcoming free-to-play battle royale, with monetization based around cosmetics. The developers have also confirmed that there won’t be any pay-to-win mechanics or similar paid upgrades. Bloodhunt pits individual players or teams against each other, as they battle to be the last one standing. Not only do they have access to firearms and melee weapons, but they can bring their vampiric disciplines to bear against their enemies, giving them special powers to use in battle. The vampires can also scale walls and run across buildings, adding a new level of verticality to the gameplay. Check out the new gameplay trailer for Bloodhunt below:

The Masquerade is also important in BloodhuntThere are humans spread around the map that can be fed on for buffs. If the player reveals their identity to mortals (such as by feeding on someone else in front of them), then all other players on the map will become aware of their position. There is also a vampire-hunting foe on the loose, called The Entity, which has the power to destroy players that try to face it head-on.

Bloodhunt is coming to PC later this year, but players can sign up to take part in an upcoming closed alpha, which is due to start on July 2. The idea of a Vampire: The Masquerade battle royale initially seemed like a mismatch to many fans of the tabletop game, but Bloodhunt is showing a lot of potential. The developers’ goal is to make a game that appeals to fans of Vampire: The Masquerade and battle royale titles. and they must just succeed with both.
