Vin Diesel Celebrates F9’s People’s Choice Awards 2021 Nominations

Vin Diesel celebrates F9‘s many People’s Choice Awards nominations in a new social media post honoring the entire Fast & Furious franchise. Even now, several months later, F9 remains one of the highest-grossing movies of 2021. Back in June, it was one of the first major blockbusters to commit to an exclusive theatrical release amid the coronavirus pandemic, which then paid off with a $721 million worldwide box office total. F9‘s performance was also bolstered by generally positive reviews, even as it took the franchise to even more audacious heights.

F9 brought the franchise’s familial drama to a whole new level by introducing Jakob Toretto (John Cena), brother to Dom (Diesel) and Mia (Jordana Brewster). Aiming to take revenge for past slights, Jakob set his sights on Dom and his found family, thus fueling much of the conflict in F9. The movie was also notable for bringing about the surprise return of fan favorite Han Lue (Sung Kang), previously thought to have been killed at the end of Fast & Furious 6. After years of calling for “Justice for Han,” fans got just a taste of what lies ahead for him in the franchise.

F9 is certainly one of the biggest movies of the year, and it demonstrated that by racking up plenty of People’s Choice nominations. The nominees were announced a few weeks ago, but Diesel only recently took to social media to celebrate the achievement. “In this business, to be nominated is such a blessing. Especially when you are doing what you love, with people you love,” he wrote. Diesel shared a bunch of photos trumpeting the movie’s biggest nomination, which falls in the Movie of 2021 category. Fans can cast their votes for the People’s Choice Awards now. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, December 7. F9 stands as the movie with the most nominations, having also racked up noms for The Action Movie of 2021 and various acting awards for Diesel, Cena, and Charlize Theron. The high-octane movie will have to face down opponents like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and No Time to Die for a good number of its awards.

The Fast & Furious franchise has always been a favorite with audiences, and it hopes to go out on a high note. There are two movies still to come in the main series, with Fast & Furious 10 set to arrive in April 2023. It remains to be seen just where it will take the franchise, but since F9 finally crossed into space, there could be more of that ahead for Dom and his crew. Fans can rest assured that once there’s more to reveal about Fast & Furious 10, Diesel will happily tell them. For now, they can show their support for F9 by voting at the People’s Choice Awards.
