Warzone, Cold War Season Six Battle Pass Includes Black Ops’ Alex Mason

Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s Season Six Battle Pass includes Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason. The seasonal Battle Pass is a mechanic that allows players to advance through tiers and obtain unlockable content like weapon blueprints, gun camos, skins, new operators, and Call of Duty points–the in-game currency. Once purchased, the Battle Pass offers 100 tiers of new content to advance through and instant unlock items at tier zero. With the Season Six Battle Pass looming on the horizon, some fans of Black Ops may just find it the best Battle Pass offer out there.

Alex Mason is a major character in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and he played a major role in the first two installments of the Black Ops series as well. Though a quiet and mysterious character, interest in him piqued once fans learned more about him through playing. However, questions about his background and current location remain unanswered. This was partly due to the minor role his character played in recent Black Ops installments, so players will be happy to hear that Alex Mason will play a pivotal role in Season Six–as previously hinted in COD‘s final trailer for Season Five.

The Call of Duty franchise released a trailer on YouTube advertising the Season Six Battle Pass with Alex Mason. The trailer showcases Alex Mason using new gear as he fights his way through explosions in a war zone. The official Call of Duty website revealed that with the purchase of the Battle Pass, players will immediately unlock the original hero of Black Ops, Operator Alex Mason in his “Alaska” Operator Skin. Upon completion of the two Operator Missions that come with Mason, players can unlock additional customization content, including Mason’s “Barren,” “Canopy,” “Polar,” and “Maritime” Skins. Players also have the option of getting the full Battle Pass, which unlocks Mason’s Reactive Skin set, over a dozen Weapon Blueprints, and 1,000 COD Points. All of this will become available this week on October 7th.

The website mentions that this season will be the climatic ending for Black Ops Cold War, and the arrival of Alex Mason is just in time for what may be the ultimate duel between Adler and Stitch. Through the purchase of the Battle Pass, players will be prepared for the final showdown. Though the Battle Pass offers special unlocks, the system has been known to exhaust and frustrate players, especially when games like Warzone begin selling past Battle Pass rewards. But with a trailer promising highly classified gear and skins, it may be worth it to diehard fans.

It’s a busy time of the year for the Call of Duty franchise. Not only is the Season Six Battle Pass dropping, but The Haunting, Call of Duty‘s Halloween event, is kicking off October 18th, ahead of Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s launch date of November 5th. With these events and the return of Alex Mason, Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans will have a lot to look forward to.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
