Weird Al Has Funny Response To Being Dead In Y The Last Man Show

Musician “Weird Al” Yankovic has a funny reaction to being dead in the Y: The Last Man series. Yankovic is a musician and actor who has made a career out of making parodies of big-name musicians and their pop-culture iconography. He’s sold more than 12 million albums throughout his career and continues to perform his work around the world.

In a video clip posted to his Twitter account, Weird Al Yankovic highlights a scene from Y: The Last Man, which alludes to him being dead in the fantasy world. Al responded to the clip, writing, “Uh…thanks?” The scene involves Ben Schnetzer’s Yorick Brown hearing music playing at a hideout while talking to another character about it. Yorick mentions his sister had taken him to see Radiohead live in concert, in an effort to show him that there was more to music than Weird Al, which prompts his companion to say “Rest in Peace, Weird Al,” which could be taken as an insult or compliment. Check out the response and accompanying video below:

In addition to his music work, Yankovic has also appeared in multiple films and TV shows, frequently as himself. Yankovic has shown up in series like American Dad!, Scooby-Doo, Phineas and Ferb, Teen Titans Go!, and many more. He also supplies the voice for Captain Peanutbutter in Bojack Horseman and continues to make guest appearances on numerous series and late-night talk shows.

Y: The Last Man‘s story focuses on a plague that wipes out all mammals on the planet with a Y chromosome save for Yorick Brown and his pet monkey, Ampersand, so obviously Weird Al would be gone, as well as many other musicians, so it’s not really a jab at the artist to mention his death. Yankovic has spent his career parodying others, so it would be surprising if he were actually offended by the joke, which he almost assuredly is not. The musician is most recently featured in the Edgar Wright documentary The Sparks Brothers, where he talks about their influence on his work. Yankovic’s last single was “The Hamilton Polka,” a polka medley of songs from the hit play Hamilton.
