Winter House: Lindsay Talks Past Romance With Austen Prior To The Show

Lindsay Hubbard is opening up about her past romantic history with Winter House costar Austen Kroll. The Summer House star became friends with Austen when he joined the cast of Southern Charm season 4. When Austen became a cast member on his Bravo series, Lindsay was joining a new, upcoming reality show that quickly became a hit on the network. Since Lindsay and Austen both work for Bravo, the pair developed a friendship through their employment with the network.

In fact, Austen, along with Craig Conover and Shep Rose from Southern Charm, made an appearance on Summer House season 4. Throughout their three-year friendship, Lindsay and Austen have been in on and off relationships, making it difficult for them to ever develop something past a friendship. Last summer, Lindsay broke up with her boyfriend of over a year, Stephen Traversie, while Austen broke up with his girlfriend of almost three years, Madison LeCroy, around the same time.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The 35-year-old spoke with Us Weekly ahead of the Winter House premiere on Wednesday regarding her romantic history with Austen. “I haven’t seen him in over a year when we started filming, so that was the longest I’ve gone since I’ve met him,” Lindsay, who denied dating Luke Gulbranson, said to the publication during the new show’s premiere party in New York City. “So I went into it like, ‘Hey, I’m just so f—king excited to, like, see my best friend.’ […] Austen and I do have a history when we’re both single that you don’t know what’s going to happen.” The pair kept quiet on the behind-the-scenes romance as they wanted to protect the friendship they had coming into Winter House. Lindsay needed a stable friendship with Austen, so she could “bounce ideas off” and “work through certain situations” with him.

Since Lindsay and Austen first met more than three years ago, they have been “nurturing that friendship” into what it is today. Lindsay from Summer House added that the viewers will get to see their friendship unfold on screen as many feel their rumored romance “came out of nowhere.” She continued that they “have a history of friendship and physical history of romance” that many were clueless about. Fans will likely hear about their past on TV and how it steeped into Winter House. In the trailer for season 1, Lindsay can be seen telling Austen that she loves him; however, the conversation isn’t what many viewers thought. Lindsay revealed to Us Weekly that the conversation occurred after getting drunk on Fireball whiskey. The reality star added that though she said the same thing to other people in the house, she is looking forward to seeing how it all plays out on TV.

Even though Austen, who was spotted with Kristin Cavallari, and Lindsay were never in a relationship, it seems the pair did have a strong bond before coming onto the show. When two people who have some type of history and are all of a sudden stuck together for weeks in a house, it can be easy to lean on each other whether it’s for a friendship, romantic reasons, or both.

Winter House airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
